Keen interest lit her face at hearing he was adopted. It wasn't often she got to meet a fellow adoptee. Although the circumstances were certainly different, she kept it in mind for later.

Her expression then settled into a small but warm smile. "They sound amazing, Kurt. I'm really glad you ended up with people like them. Nobody should ever have to wonder if they're worthy of love, especially a little kid." Her smile tightened but only for a second; there had been a time that she had wondered it herself, but her daddy had made sure it was a brief, insignificant period in the scheme of things.

She went on, "I know Athena had a lot of people who loved her growing up, too." That was all she could really say; she wasn't at the courthouse when the info came out, but the transcripts gave the impression that Athena had mistaken her mom's support for something sinister... And again, that was for Athena to talk about, if she even wanted to. "She seems really comfortable with her abilities, these days." Her smile brightened as she added, "And they've been a real asset to my dad's team, that's for sure!"
